The 9th Annual Deacons of Deadwood Charity Ball raised the bar another notch on the Houston social scene. The evening started for the 350 guests at Artista where they enjoyed complimentary hors d'oeuvres while enjoying the beautiful downtown skyline.

The venturesome crowd then enjoyed a spectacular motorcycle ride on I-10 as the police closed the interstate highway for Club members and their guests. The ride continued through the revitalized Washington Avenue area and on to La Colombe d'Or for the night's festivities.

Guests were welcomed at La Colombe d'Or with French appetizers and plenty of refreshing drinks. They surveyed the Silent Auction and soon started bidding on items from theatre seats to a Bahamas trip to judge an international swimsuit competition. The band Fab Five began and dinner was served.

The evening was capped with a raffle drawing of a 2010 Harley-Davidson motorcycle donated by Republic Harley-Davidison. Rachel J. of Dickinson, Texas was the lucky winner.

Proceeds from the evening benefitted Boys and Girls Country, a home for children whose families are in crisis.
The bar has been set high, but the Deacons never back down from a challenge. Next year will be the Deacons 10th Annual Charity Ball and they are looking for underwiriters who want to be part of this unique charitable event. Stay tuned for details for the best Ball yet.
